 2016 Preview 


       Coosa Christian finished the 2015 season with a disappointing 0-10 record. Last year Coosa Christian finished seventh in Class 1A region seven with a 0-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       No team at Coosa Christian ever lost more games in a season than the ten they lost last year. The Conquerors have not qualified for the playoffs since the 2009 season and would love to end that streak this year. The Conquerors last playoff victory came during the 2004 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win.

       The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Coosa Christian averaged scoring just 6.1 points a game. The Conquerors also struggled on the defensive side of the football as they found little success in stopping opposing offenses and allowed an average of 48.1 points a game.

       The Conquerors would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 1-19 record. Since 2010, the Coosa Christian football program has struggled with a record of 15-45.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Coosa Christian has managed to compile a record of 111-134. Their 45.0% winning percentage ranks 33rd in Class 1A and 236th in the AHSAA. Their last winning season was 2009.

Mike Sheffield leaves Coosa Christian after just one season where his team finished with an 0-10 record.


Navendra Woods will be the sixth new head football coach at Coosa Christian over the past seven seasons.



       The Coosa Christian Conquerors will play in Class 1A region six during the 2016 season. Following realignment, the Conquerors remain in 1A but move from region seven over to region six.

       The Conquerors enter the 2016 season in the middle of a 16 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season.

       This season, the Conquerors will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region six. After not winning a single game last year, the goal at Coosa Christian will be to simply win some games.

       The Conquerors open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Holly Pond on Friday, August 19. Last year the Holly Pond Broncos finished with an overall record of 1-9 and in seventh place in Class 3A region five. The Broncos ended last season on a positive note with a win over Cold Springs by a score of 49-40 after failing to gain a playoff spot.

       Coosa Christian and Holly Pond have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Conquerors have a 0-2-0 record against the Broncos. They last met in with
